Meet the Power of Recurring Revenue
👋 Hey Loopers,
Long time, no see! Blame it on my big move to the Big Apple 🌆 You’d think packing up with just a laptop and some strong coffee would make things simple. But as any New Yorker will tell you, this city keeps you on your toes! Now that I'm officially settled in, I’m excited to bring you a brand-new edition of our newsletter.
Today we are covering:
🔥 Subscriptions are HOT
♻️ Wild: Where Sustainability meets Subscriptions
🌍 Exciting Upcoming Sustainability Events
🎙️ The Power of Subscriptions
💼 Job Opportunities in the Sustainability Sector
🔥 Subscriptions are HOT
Picture this: you wake up, try to make coffee but realize you are out of coffee beans because you forgot to restock. What if you didn’t have to think about it at all? What if they arrived like magic (sort of) every month on your doorstep? Say hello to subscriptions, the magical formula transforming businesses and consumer habits alike!
Numbers Don’t Lie! 📈 By 2025, the subscription market is projected to grow to $1.5 trillion. Yes, you heard that right Trillion with a capital T! It’s like the gold rush of the digital age, and if you’re not in on it, you might just be left standing outside the saloon while everyone else is cashing in.
What’s even more interesting? A recent study by Forbes found that 74% of Gen Z prioritizes experiences over ownership. That’s right, folks, who needs a fancy new car when you can have a subscription to a monthly adventure, a gourmet cooking class, or a never-ending supply of artisanal avocado toast delivered right to your door? They’re all about that experiential lifestyle, and subscriptions are the perfect way to cater to that craving.
75% of consumers plan to maintain or increase their subscriptions in the future. So, while you might be wondering if your friend is actually using that fancy artisanal cheese subscription (spoiler: they definitely are), what does this mean for your business? It’s simple: more stable income, recurring orders, and predictable growth. Say goodbye to the rollercoaster of sales, and hello to a smooth ride of recurring revenue!
But wait, there’s more! Subscriptions not only provide steady income, but they also turn casual customers into loyal subscribers. Once someone signs up, they become part of your brand family. The more they engage with your products, the more invested they become. You’re no longer just a vendor; you’re a trusted partner in their journey to discover the best products. This loyalty translates into repeat purchases, referrals, and a community that actively champions your brand.
In Conclusion: Dive into the Subscription Sea! 🌊
So, if you’re still on the fence about launching subscriptions in your business, it’s time to hop off that fence and cannonball into the glorious ocean of predictable growth! With the subscription market booming and consumers craving convenience and experiences, now is the perfect moment to join the fun.
Remember, the future isn’t just about selling products anymore; it’s all about creating experiences that turn customers into loyal subscribers who stick around. So, let’s get creative, gear up, and ride this subscription wave to success! 🌊💰
♻️ Wild: Where sustainability meets Subscriptions
Let’s face it: our bathrooms are like black holes for single-use plastic. Millions of products vanish every year, leaving behind nothing but guilt and a lingering smell. Wild, is a UK brand that’s on a mission to rescue our bathrooms and the planet from plastic waste, because who wants to feel like a villain in the sustainability story?
Wild latest special edition packaging
Wild is shaking things up. They’re tackling single-use plastics with innovative, reusable products, like their durable aluminum deodorant applicator and body wash case that’s built to last a lifetime (unlike that weird bottle of lotion you’ve been hoarding since college). Instead of tossing out another empty deodorant stick, customers can simply refill their case with a new stick delivered straight to their door via a subscription model. Every refill saves over 30 grams of plastic from ending up in landfills, talk about a win-win!
Wild gets it. Managing subscriptions should be easy, not a maze! Their model is built perfectly for it: once you’ve got the applicator, you can keep the deodorant sticks coming on autopilot. But hey, life happens! If you end up with a stash of deodorant or feel like trying a new scent, Wild lets you adjust your subscription hassle-free. No hoops, just pure flexibility. This approach helps them reduce churn and keep customers engaged, making subscription management a breeze.
📊 Here are some quick stats:
6,000 re-orders received before launch
Over 100,000 customers in just the first seven months
So, as we dive headfirst into this subscription revolution, let’s raise our bamboo pulp refills in a toast to Wild! Here’s to transforming our bathroom habits, one refill at a time, and making the world a little less plastic-y. After all, if we can save the planet while smelling great, why not? 🌍✨
🎙️ The Power of Subscriptions
🎉 A few weeks back, we hosted an epic gathering for our community in Madrid! We kicked things off with a roundtable featuring some industry rockstars, diving into the magic of subscriptions and how they can turn businesses from wild financial rides into steady revenue machines. We explored how subscriptions can transform casual shoppers into loyal fans.
Let’s give a big shoutout to our incredible lineup of speakers who brought the wisdom to the table:
David Comino Mateos - Product Manager of Digital Marketing at Trevenque Group, one of the leading agencies in implementing subscription models for e-commerce in Spain: "Customer acquisition costs have skyrocketed by up to 60% since 2019, so it makes perfect sense to acquire and retain customers simultaneously. It's all about minimizing effort while maximizing results."
David highlighted how rising costs are making customer retention through subscriptions a game changer.
Beatriz Barriga Martín - Director of Communication and Marketing at Retail Master Summit, with over 10 years of experience in retail and luxury: "Luxury faces a unique challenge with subscriptions because it thrives on exclusivity. But brands are shifting this concept to their content—once, only an exclusive few could see fashion shows, now anyone can stream them live on social media. The question is, how do they bring that exclusivity to the physical product?"
Beatriz dove into the complex intersection between luxury and subscriptions, predicting where exclusivity will shift next.
Carmen Saenz Varona - CEO and founder of a luxury second-hand company with over 30 years of experience in luxury and fashion: "Subscriptions are all about necessity and repeat purchase—far from what luxury represents. But it's a great business model: steady cash flow, predictable sales, and easy customer retention!"
Carmen explored the practical side of subscriptions and why they're perfect for business stability.
Oriana Circelli - Co-founder and CEO of Wow Play, an educational subscription service delivering STEAM project kits to boost children’s creativity: "For us, subscriptions make total sense. Pedagogically, we make an impact by creating a routine for kids to receive our STEAM kits each month. And from a business perspective, managing physical inventory becomes much easier."
Oriana shared how subscriptions provide both educational value and operational efficiency for their business.
Saray Fernández Allende - Creator of Clark, a contact lens subscription, and a pioneer in turning recurring purchases into subscriptions: "Our product is disposable and purchased on a regular basis, so subscriptions are the most convenient solution for our users."
Saray emphasized how subscriptions fit seamlessly into their product offering and enhance customer convenience.
Emmanuel du Boisbaudry - CEO of Bayard Publishing Group and expert in subscription models focused on publications: "If you're betting on subscriptions, you're betting on renewal. And people only renew if they're happy with the product. So the focus should always be on delivering quality."
Emmanuel wrapped up the discussion by stressing that customer satisfaction is the cornerstone of any successful subscription model.
What an incredible day of learning, laughing, and leaning into the subscription economy!
